Backup Deduplication and Replication (Data Domain)
Continū Data Services' hardware-based solution provides an onsite appliance and offsite replication and disaster recovery utilizing Data Domain's industry-leading deduplication technology. To the customer's network and existing backup infrastructure, the onsite appliance simply looks like disk storage or a tape device. Once the source appliance is installed, the only change to a customer's backup infrastructure is to redirect their current backup jobs to the appliance.
How It WorksA small Data Domain compression and storage appliance is plugged into your existing network and backup environment. As your backup data is streamed through the device, one hundred gigabytes of your data is rapidly compressed into a staggeringly small five gigabytes, storing your backup internally, and then automatically replicating it over the Internet to a twin device in Continū's secure data centers. That 20x compression*, a tenfold increase over the industry standard, means we can store, replicate, and protect more of your data-more efficiently-than any other solution. And in the event of a large-scale disaster that prevents you from recovering your data from your on-site Data Domain device, we can quickly stream your data onto a spare device and physically deliver it to get your data assets restored in record time.
